If your artist gave you a second piece of saniderm to take home, remove the first piece after 24 hours. If you did not get a second piece, skip to step 4.
Wash hands well, then gently wash tattoo with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free antibacterial liquid soap. Lightly rinse and pat completely dry with a paper towel - do not use microfiber.
Place second piece of saniderm on the tattoo, being sure there are no parts left uncovered and no bubbles.
Saniderm works best when left on 3-6 days. If it does not last at least 3 days, please follow the traditional aftercare instructions above. When you remove your saniderm, do so in the shower under running water. Wash the tattoo well with unscented antibacterial soap and pat dry with a paper towel.
Apply a white, unscented lotion a few times a day, enough to keep lightly moisturized and prevent scabbing. Continue this for a couple of weeks, until the tattoo is no longer shiny, itchy, or flaking. TATTOOS SHOULD FLAKE, NOT SCAB. If your tattoo is scabbing it is likely under moisturized.
Your tattoo will take about 4-8 weeks to heal, but this will vary depending on the person and the type of tattoo. During the healing process do not pick at or scratch your tattoo. This can pull out ink and cause infection. Do not swim or submerge your tattoo and keep it out of direct sun for at least 2 weeks.
For long term care, always put sunscreen on your tattoos — ESPECIALLY color pieces. Sun exposure and tanning will always be bad for your tattoos and will cause premature fading.
Remove temporary wrap in 1-2 hours.
